Mid-face Lift

Mid-face Lift

Unlike a standard facelift which primarily addresses sagging in the lower face and neck, the midface-lift is beneficial for those who have early signs of facial aging in the area of the cheek below the eyes.

However, midface lifting can be performed as part of a conventional facelift. One approach is similar to a lower eyelid lift. Incisions are made in the lower eyelid and the underlying tissue of the midface is gently raised, about 90% vertically and 10% back. Any resulting excess skin is then removed.

Another method of performing a midface-lift involves making small incisions intraorally and in the temporal area (typical used for a brow lift). Indeed, a midface-lift performed in this manner can be done in conjunction with a brow lift. The midface is re-positioned in the subperiosteal pane and both the sagging cheek fat pad (malar fat pad) and the SOOF (SubOrbicularisOculiFat) are lifted together with underlying muscles.

Mid-face Lift

A new method of elevating the midface is the MACS-Lift (Minimal Accesive Cranial Suspension Lift). An incision is made along the hair line in the front of the ear, inside the tragus till the lobule of the ear. Two vertical sutures are put along the ramus of the mandible and another one to the malar fat pad. They suspend the underlying tissues of the face to the temporal fascia and the concha of the eye, providing a sufficient elevation to the midface. This new technique is suitable especially for men, because it eliminates the scar behind the ear. This scar is always conspicuous to men because of the short hair.

This results particularly in correction of hollowing below the eyes, sagging around the mouth as well as improvement of the nasolabial folds. Like a standard facelift, you should expect to wait at least several weeks until swelling has subsided for an accurate picture of how you will look.
