4th “ISAPS-LEAP” mission, Reyhanli, Turkey, November 12-18 Nov 2015

Dr Ioannis Liapakis, joined the 4th Mission of the “ISAPS-LEAP” at the Syrian-Turkey borders between November 12-18, 2015 The“ISAPS-LEAP” Missions are Humanitarian missions around the world. They consist from Plastic Surgeons with over than 7 years of experience who perform procedures whenever it's needed. A joint collaboration between ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and the LEAP Foundation, Surgical Relief Teams © (SRT) is an initiative established to train, equip, connect and deploy highly skilled Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons for short-term disaster relief medical missions. As a global platform for surgical care, SRT plans to place teams on the ground within the first week of a mass casualty incident.

SRT is currently assembling teams of surgical volunteers for one-week deployments. Plastic Surgeons and Dr Liapakis travel to physical disasters, war conflicts or third world countries, where health care is insufficiently structured to also provide assistance to the poor among the population. Thus already undertaken humanitarian missions to Zimbabwe, India, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Belize, Jordan and Syrian-Turkey Borders:https://www.leapmissions.org/. The main activity in plastic surgery field consists of the correction of gunshot wounds, explosions, burns, craniofacial anomalies, congenital cleft lip and palate.
