A new study (Chen C et al. Applications of Long-Pulse Alexandrite Laser in Cosmetic Dermatology: A Review. Clinical Cosmetic Investig Dermatol 2023 Nov 17;16:3349–3357) demonstrated the effectiveness of the Alexandrite laser in Plastic Surgery. The long-pulse Alexandrite laser uses crystals, has a wavelength of 755nm and a pulse duration of milliseconds. It was found to have impressive results in hair removal, vascular lesions, and skin pigmented lesions, precisely because melanin and hemoglobin absorb this specific wavelength.
